Magical Wonders
Throughout the world, mysteries dwell in the darkness- buried beneath the sands or the waves, secreted away behind heavy doors or ruined temples. The list below contains some of those mysteries; artifacts and items that defy mundane comprehension: the tools of heroes.
For those with the Magical Wonder perk, your character has acquired one of the artifacts off of the list below. How they use it is up to them. The below descriptions are a typical example of the magical wonder in question, although variations may exist as long as they are in the same spirit as the original.

Animal friend | An animal that accompanies you on your journeys. They often show affection towards you and are able to do tasks that humans would not be able to do. They often forage for odds and ends, sometimes bringing back bizarre items to its owner. | Your animal friend bring you a random item each game off of our Animal Friend table. This has a high chance of being a useful or uncommon item. |
Bag of curing | A roughly woven brown sack filled with thick crystals of pink salt. Not used for currency, it is often used to preserve meat from hunts so it will last long into the future for rations. | Once per event, if you would roll on the severe or crippling trauma table you may instead roll on the mild table. |
Book of magic tricks | A small tome bound in dark green leather. | Three times per event, this item may be used to ask a target: "Arcane OOC: What is the most valuable item in your possession right now?" |
Brocade corset | A sturdy steel boned corset meant to wrap around the wearer's torso. While it provides the ability to shape one's body, it is also thick enough to stave off attacks. | Gives one armor call to torso, may not be stacked with additional armor. Must be repaired after the single call is utilized. |
Broken vampire fang | A tooth from a vampire, razor sharp and white | If this item is attached to a weapon, upon successfully wounding a monster you have confirmed is a hemophage OOC with this knife you can call Malefic Weaken Strength 2 or Malefic fear on the target. |
Burial shroud | A very thin and delicate piece of black silk. It is worn in certain spots, but is still woven together beautifully. It is often said to be wrapped around the bodies of heroes and warriors when on their deathbeds. It must be at least large enough to cover your face. | As long as this item is on your person you may ignore killing blows while downed, saying "no effect." |
Cappacian claw | The claw of a dire creature that has been impregnated with stones from the caves of the Outlands. It pulses in a dull red light. | If this item is attached to a weapon, upon successfully wounding a monster you have confirmed is an abberant OOC with this knife you can call Malefic Weaken Strength 2 or Malefic fear on the target. |
Cauldron engraved with runes | A large iron pot with a rounded belly and thick walls. Small symbols are etched along the rim of the cauldron, and when set over a fire, they seem to glow with heat. | Allows the user to make a meal that is missing one ingredient once per game. |
Cold iron knife | A knife of dark iron speckled through with bright blue veins, it seems to give off a chilly air | Upon successfully wounding a monster you have confirmed is spectre or fey OOC with this knife you can call Malefic Weaken Strength 2 or Malefic fear on the target. |
Cosmetic kit | A leather satchel that, when opened, reveals a group of sturdy little pots containing brightly colored pigment. There are several thin paint brushes, along with a vial of oil and a soft cloth. | Once per event this item may be used to refresh a pathos call without a rest. |
Curious walking stick | A twisted alder stick, three feet in length and polished from vigorous use. It is quite the handy tool when hiking, but you swear you can see the faces of men in the knotwork on its length. | Wooden stick with a box that can only be opened if one sanguine essence from a character with the nemien culture is spilled upon it |
Dire animal fur mantle | A cloak made of what appears to be wolf skin. There is a leather Buckle in the front, and when worn around your shoulders you feel a strong sense of protection and warmth. | When worn, keeps dire animals five feet away as long as you wear it, as long as it is visible. Use the call "Arcane: Dire animals stay five feet away." |
Dragonbone handle | A pure bright bone, light to lift but incredibly strong. | If this item is attached to a weapon, upon successfully wounding a monster you have confirmed is a mythic OOC with this knife you can call Malefic Weaken Strength 2 or Malefic fear on the target. |
Flowing skirt | A long, gossamer skirt that goes to the wearer's ankles. It is a dark blue and seems to Shimmer in the light. Its secret is that it is woven with metallic threads, making it more of an item of protection than a fashion statement | A flowing skirt or flowing cloth that provides one armor call, but needs to be repaired after being used. May be stacked. |
Framed painting | A large stretch of canvas framed in a wooden frame. It depicts a column Forest, blanketed with moss. If you look closely, you could almost swear that you see glowing eyes behind the trees. | Allows the user to list one thing they know to be untrue on the back of the painting. As long as that painting exists, the user can state their untruth as truth no matter what powers/skills are used against them. |
Gambling token | A small iron coin embossed with a rose on one side, and a dagger on the other. It is strangely cold, but has a comforting weight when held. | This coin has two sides (head and tails) and no matter who flips it, the coin always lands on the side the owner desires. |
Gaudy medallion | A golden coin hanging from a golden chain, forged with intricate patterns. It seems impossibly shiny, and feels warm to the touch. It hangs with a weight that seems odd for a charm of this size. | Will cause one NPC merchant to significantly reduce their asking price on one object/service once per event. |
Glowing hatchet | A two foot long axe with red markings emblazoned on the head. They seem to pulse with light through the steel, and splits even the hardest wood with ease. | Once per game this tool may used to generate a single forestry item of wyrd quality. This is at the choice of the user. |
Glowing hound collar | A dark red hound's collar, made of thick, sturdy ox leather. The buckle seems to be made of steel and when held up to your ear, you hear the baying of dogs in the distance | Once per game this tool may used to generate a single hunting item of wyrd quality. This is at the choice of the user. |
Glowing seedbag | A small linen over-the-shoulder bag, embroidered with leaves and stems alone it seams. When opened, a bright white light seems to emanate from the inside. | Once per game this tool may used to generate a single farming item of wyrd quality. This is at the choice of the user. |
Glowing shovel | A hefty spade with a sturdy, teak wood handle. Along the length of the handle, there are spots of faint blue light. It is said that they glow when around treasure. | Once per game this tool may used to generate a single mining item of wyrd quality. This is at the choice of the user. |
Glowing watering can | A small, brass watering can with a long, thin spout. There are spirals of green light that seemed to pulse gently when near plants. | Once per game this tool may used to generate a single herbalism item of wyrd quality. This is at the choice of the user. |
Gold Plated Chain Mail | A shirt of chain mail made of brightly burnished gold. It is somehow harder than steel, and moves effortlessly with your body, providing excellent protection and flexibility. | The location covered by gold armor cannot be effected by magical effects, you may call Ignored. However, this armor is considered medium armor but only has 1 armor call before needing repair. |
Holy shard | A chunk of stone taken from a holy ruin. It pulses gently with a certain energy | If this item is attached to a weapon, upon successfully wounding a monster you have confirmed is a necrophage OOC with this knife you can call Malefic Weaken Strength 2 or Malefic fear on the target. |
Human anatomical diagram lens | A long thin scroll of parchment that contains an intricate diagram a human body. It gives a deeper look into the body's inner workings then one could see from the outside, but it gives you a sick feeling when you look upon it. | Give the owner the instinct level of a single malefic once per event. |
Hypnotizing shield | A large circular shield forged of soul steel. It has the face of a man in its center and if stared at for long enough, it looks as if his face begins to twist into a grotesque parody of what a human should look like. | Once per day you may call "Arcane Fire: Stun Range" on one individual within oration range. |
Intricate silver collar | A necklace that fits close to the throat, made of complex bundles of wires weaving in and out of each other in a pattern. When worn, the collar seems to cinch ever so slightly once secured into place. | Once the collar is attached, ask the player to phys rep bleeding each time they lie. If they lie 3 times it kills them by cutting off their head. For recharge, it must be washed in holy water. Can only be recharged once per event. |
Jewel encrusted eyepiece | A sleek looking spyglass with a wooden body. Along the body of the spyglass, there is a row of multicolored gems | Once per game this tool may used to generate a single hunting item of common, uncommon, or rare quality. This does not include masterwork or wyrd items, but is at the choice of the user. |
Jewel encrusted hoe | A sleek looking gardening hoe with a yew wood handle. Legged guppy | A guppy with legs, much bigger than a guppy has any right to be. Its cocked eyes seem to point in different directions, but it shows slight affection towards you. Lightning glass | A shard of bright glass that occasionally sparks with bright light | If this item is attached to a weapon, upon successfully wounding a monster you have confirmed is a elementa OOC with this knife you can call Malefic Weaken Strength 2 or Malefic fear on the target. |
Lover's locket | A beloved, precious keepsake meant to hold a lock of a lover's hair. It is a golden medallion that ipens on a hinge, worn on a chain. | Choose which memory is the last touchstone memory you would lose. Only works for as long as you have it on your person. |
Lurien's guidance | A bandage supposedly soaked in the blood of a great healer. It always seems somewhat fresh, what smells like new rain and cedar wood. It gives off the feeling of a divine presence when used to bind a wound. | Once per event , after dying, the user may ressurect wherever they choose but they lose an extra memory doings so. |
Magic mug | A large wooden stein, bound with metal bands. It resembles a small barrel, but once a day, it seems to magically refill itself with the drink of the owner's choice. | A mug that refills once a day with a meal that removes that miserable condition |
Memory lock | A small lock carved from sapphire. The hook seems to be made of brass, and there is no keyhole, but whoever owns this item will be able to open it with a single touch. | Choose which memory is the last touchstone memory you would lose. Only works for as long as you have it on your person. |
Midnight mask | A mirrored convex mask that covers the entirety of the wearer's face in a single piece. Its surface reflects whoever stands in front of its wearer, giving them a warped and distorted view of themselves, | Allows you to slow the progression of the first disease they encounter during an event by doubling the progression time. This can be used once per event. |
Mirrored dish | A shallow dish with a mirror as its bottom. Looking upon it, one can see their own reflection, of course, but sometimes the vision of a young woman will appear over their shoulder. | When filled with water, it allows seers to share one vision with others per event. |
Obsidian dice | Two small dice carved from pitch black volcanic glass. Each of the faces are made up of delicatedly carved skulls, but their tiny eyes seem to follow you wherever you go. | After activated the first person you play dice with that rolls snake eyes will be injured three hours later, but the person who owns the dice will receive a vial of sanguine humor that came from that person. Once per game. |
Packet of seeds | A small bit of folded parchment filled with a variety of seeds. You aren't sure exactly what they are but you know they come from good Salgothic stock. You wonder what bizarre plants will germinate once you plant them. | Once per an event you may double an herb that you have |
Paladin heart | A human heart in a jar, covered in Benalian holy symbols. It is pure white, nothing you would ever see you from a normal man, but it inspires feelings of hope when looked upon, rather than disgust. | You can use this to seek an attonement from staff if there are no priests of your faith around - but it will become a rumor next game. |
Protective sleeve | A tube made of thick animal skin, oiled to waterproofness. It can hold schematics and scrolls, and protect them from the elements. | Make a schematic not expire but cannot be copied, holds up to 5 |
Puzzling item | Two interlocking pieces of oiled dark wood that make up a box that needs to be opened by a complicated pattern of twists and pushes. It looks incredibly detailed, almost as if it were physically impossible to exist. | If placed in front of a sentient malefic may give a command: "Malefic Command: put the puzzle together." |
Rough poultice | A modest square of felted wool with stripes of plants and sticks woven within and tassels on either end. It is very warm, and seems to be especially comforting during long, cold nights in the elements. Its texture is slightly rough, with irregular bumps along the strands of yarn. | The possessor of this item may wear a bundle of plants and cloth around their neck and as long as they are wearing it any symptoms of a disease they have are suppressed. They are still contagious and can spread it. |
Sapling | A pot with a hearty, vibrant apple tree sapling planted inside of it. You feel like the plant has distinct moods, and seems to like you in particular. Even when inside of a room, it sways with an invisible wind. | As long as the sapling is kept alive and well-tended, requiring at least an hour in the sun every day, then you have one more touchstone memory slot. |
Silvered weapon | A battle axe forged with silver while in its crucible. Its blade is sharp, and is said to be effective against those men who turned into beasts in the night. If you press your ear to it, you could swear you can hear it singing. | If this item is attached to a weapon, upon successfully wounding a monster you have confirmed is a cursed creature OOC with this knife you can call Malefic Weaken Strength 2 or Malefic fear on the target. |
Spice container | A small box made of a dark wood. When opened, it reveals several compartments filled with mystical and exotic spices from faraway lands. | Let's you replace the herbs in a meal with spice so you can make them without herbs. The resulting meal will only cure the miserable effect and have no other effects. |
Sunshine token | A mysterious shard of yellow glass with rounded edges and a glossy sheen. If you look closely, it seems that little sparks run along the length of the token. | Once per day you can turn the light on, and you specifically can perceive invisible malefic as a dark shadow within the range of the lantern. It lasts for an hour |
Talisman mace | A hefty club made of gnarled wood. It is sturdy, and wrapped in leather thongs that end in small charms. Each charm has a mysterious little symbol painted on it, and you swear you see them twinkle when you aren’t looking directly at them. | Once per event this item may be used to grant an extra parry as long as the user has the skill. The user can use this parry even if their normal parry is not available to them, but they must be wielding the club in a hand. |
Trailing sprout | A bright green trailing plant that pours out over the rim of a terracotta pot. Looking at it inspires a warm feeling in your chest that makes you think of your happiest moments. | Once per day you can hold this item and change your emotional state to happy. This does not get rid of terror, fear, miserable, or traumatized, bit does make you feel better. |
Vibrating animal skull | A small animal skull of unknown origin, similarly sized to a human fist. When touched it feels as if the bone shakes slightly under your hand, and leaves you feeling oddly uneasy. | Once per a downtime this item may be used by someone with the adventurer skill to explore a ruin without using up the number of times the ruin can be explored |
Wooden barbed dagger | A simple dagger carved of oak, with hooked serrations along the edges. While it will break after somewhat light usage, its damage is lethal and leaves splinters in the jagged hole left in the victim's body. | The barbs break off into the wound, and then the player needs to be healed in order to remove the battered condition- otherwise it will persist until that battered condition is removed. (they don't heal in that wound at the end of the event as normal). Usuable once per day |
Woven tapestry | A large swath of woven fabric depicting all of the constellations in the sky. You can see that glass beads and bits of gold have been stitched onto its surface. | A resting tapestry, allows you remove any level of Weaken with only an hour of sleep, may be used once per day. |
